- Dictionary of terms regarding the history of Romanian towns
Liviu Cîmpeanu is a graduate of the Faculty of History and Philosophy of the "Babeş-Bolyai" University of Cluj-Napoca (2006). At the same university, he completed the master's degree with the specialization "Central European Medieval Studies" (2007) and received his PhD after defending the thesis "The Saxon University of Transylvania and the Romanian districts under its jurisdiction in the Middle Ages and the Modern Age" (2011). The thesis was published as a book bearing the same title in 2014. In March 2016, he became a researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities Sibiu and was assigned to study the history and culture of the Transylvanian Germans. Besides the doctoral thesis, he has published over 40 studies and articles and has contributed to the prestigious series Foreign Travelers in the Romanian Lands and Quellen zur Geschichte de Stadt Kronstadt. In the period 2011-2012, he received a POSDRU postdoctoral fellowship and between 2015-2017, he was engaged as an expert in German and Latin paleography for the project "Digitization of medieval documents from the Romanian National Archives", a scientific venture which produced the database arhivamedievala.ro.
