Anda-Lucia Spânu graduated from the Faculty of Letters, History and Journalism with a BA in History (1999) and completed the in-depth studies program "Conservation and Restoration of Museum and Archaeological Heritage" (2000) at the "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu. She defended her PhD thesis in history (in the field of cultural history) in 2007 at the same institution and attended the courses of the postdoctoral school of the Romanian Academy in 2013 (specialization Historical Sciences and Archeology), under the scientific supervision of Prof. Paul Helmut Niedermaier. She is the Editor-in-chief of the Yearbook of the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities Sibiu, a founding member of the Civitas Nostra Association (the Society for the Study of the History of Towns) and a member of several professional associations (Commission for the History of Romanian Towns, Associazione Italiana di Storia Urbana, European Association of Urban History and the European Architectural History Network).
